Description
The basic operation of Coriolis flow meters is based on the principles of motion mechanics. As fluid moves through a vibrating tube it is forced to accelerate as it moves toward the point of peak-amplitude vibration. As this principle measures mass flow independent of what is within the tube, it can be directly applied to any fluid flowing through it – LIQUID or GAS – whereas thermal mass flow meters are dependent of the physical properties of the fluid.
The Coriolis flowmeter market has been one of the fastest growing flow meter markets over the past five years. Despite their higher initial purchase price, many users find Coriolis effect flow meters a good investment when considering total cost of ownership. As such, process plants are increasingly selecting Coriolis meters to replace differential-pressure (DP) devices, and their use is also growing in the oil & gas industry.
